We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our dynamic anesthesia team. The Anesthesia Technician will assist with the preparation and maintenance of anesthesia equipment, support anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists during procedures, and ensure optimal patient safety and comfort. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and check anesthesia equipment and supplies prior to procedures, ensuring all necessary items are available and functioning properly.
- Assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in the anesthesia care of patients in the operating room, labor and delivery, and other areas as needed.
- Monitor and maintain anesthesia machines and related equipment, performing troubleshooting and minor repairs as required.
- Ensure cleanliness, sterility, and proper organization of the anesthesia department, including cleaning and storing equipment after use.
- Participate in the monitoring of patient vital signs and anesthesia-related parameters during procedures, reporting any concerns to the anesthesia provider.
- Assist in the administration and handling of anesthesia agents and medications, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of anesthesia supplies and medications, assisting with ordering and restocking as needed.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including infection control practices and hazardous materials handling.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with advancements in anesthesia technology and protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an anesthesia technology program or relevant training preferred.
- Certification as an Anesthesia Technician (e.g., through the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians) is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting, particularly in anesthesia or surgical services, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anesthesia equipment, principles, and safety practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on patient care and safety.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; advanced life support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, assist in patient transfers, and lift equipment.
- Capable of handling stressful situations and making decisions in a high-stakes environment.
